The PLAY FOR KEEPS Award had it’s inaugural debut at Jump Start Horse Trials in 2012. It was awarded to the horse and rider with the lowest score between the winners of the Senior Training Rider Divisions.

The award was donated by the McDaniel Family in honor of Micki’s long time eventing partner, Play For Keeps, who passed away in July 2012 at 26 years of age. Play For Keeps was a rescued thoroughbred gelding who evented for many years until he was retired at age 19. The Play For Keeps Award recognizes the spirit of the amateur event rider and their special horses.

Micki herself is a KPC graduate and it was only fitting that the first winner of the award was another recent KPC graduate, Maggie Hitron, who herself lost her eventing partner, Will, earlier this year.

Congratulations Maggie!

The 2012 Jump Start Horse Trials award for MOST SENIOR COMPETITOR goes to Marianne deBarbadillo.

Congratulations Marianne and
Myers Wonder!
